Artificial Insemination with donor sperm (AID)

At bLIVF we understand that each story is unique and that the path to pregnancy may require specialized support. That is why we accompany each patient with a personalized medical approach, close and based on scientific evidence. Artificial insemination is a simple and minimally invasive treatment that increases the chances of pregnancy safely, within a careful clinical environment and with the support of an expert team in assisted reproduction.

Artificial insemination is a technique that facilitates the encounter between the egg and the sperm. This procedure increases the chances of achieving fertilization naturally within the woman’s body, optimizing the time and conditions in which conception occurs.

In the case of DAI, the sperm sample comes from anonymous donors who have met all the medical and legal criteria to be able to donate their cells in our country. Our team will select the appropriate donor for each woman or couple based on physical and genetic compatibility criteria, ensuring that the process is completely safe and that the sperm quality is optimal.

This treatment is indicated in different situations:

  • Women who want to be single mothers
  • Couples of women
  • Heterosexual couples in which sperm banking is needed

What does artificial insemination consist of?

This procedure consists of introducing the semen sample (previously prepared in the laboratory) into the woman’s uterus at the optimal ovulation period. By bringing the sperm closer to the egg, the probability of fertilization occurring naturally within the organism is increased.

Donor Sperm Insemination (DI) Success Rate

Age and the study of each specific case are determining factors that directly influence the results of the treatment. These high percentages are due to the fact that we design personalized hormonal stimulation protocols, adapted to the characteristics of each patient.

The artificial insemination process step by step

In our artificial insemination clinic, we accompany you in every stage of the process with a close and human treatment based on the best scientific evidence. Because your dream of becoming a mother deserves the best care.

The artificial insemination process step by step

Before starting, at bLIVF we perform a detailed study of the couple’s or patient’s fertility. This evaluation includes hormonal analysis, ultrasound scans and, when necessary, a semen study to assess its quality and determine whether artificial insemination is the most appropriate technique.

To increase the chances of pregnancy, in many cases a mild hormonal medication is administered to stimulate the development of one or two ovarian follicles. During this phase of the artificial insemination process, ultrasound checks and hormone analysis are performed to verify that the ovarian response is adequate.

When the follicles reach the right size, a hormone is administered that triggers ovulation. This step is fundamental in the artificial insemination process, since it allows synchronizing the insemination with the moment when the egg is ready to be fertilized.

As the moment of insemination approaches, the semen sample is processed in the laboratory. Specific techniques are used to select the spermatozoa with the highest motility and fertilizing capacity, eliminating those of lower quality. This preparation optimizes the chances of success of artificial insemination.

Once the entire process is prepared, the seminal sample is introduced directly into the uterus through a thin, flexible cannula. This final step of the artificial insemination process is quick, painless and does not require anesthesia, which makes artificial insemination a comfortable technique for the patient.

After the artificial insemination, it is recommended to continue with daily life avoiding intense physical efforts. Approximately 12 days after the procedure a blood test is performed to confirm if pregnancy has occurred.
